Best books for dads are good beach reads

Beach reads and best books for dad include books for Father's Day. Best books for dads this year include a beach twist and may be a bit different from many of the traditional books you find floated as gifts for Father’s Day.

Beach book lists target women

Let’s face it, the beach book reading lists are usually full of chick lit, women’s fiction, and other books that tend to draw women readers, but men like the beach, too. Don’t you want to visit the shore for Father’s Day? That’s why I chose these titles as the best books for dads for Father’s Day and for the beach.

Mysteries are good books for Father’s Day gifts

You’ll find my choices for the best books for dads to read at the beach are titles that are full of action, mystery, and suspense. They are tightly plotted and definitely hard to put down. Make sure dad slathers down with tanning lotion before he opens the book.

Here’s a few of my favorite authors and their latest books that rank high on my list of good books for Father’s Day gifts. These American crime writers are among my favorites and at the top of their game. Not only that, their books will provide a good reading day at the beach.

My best books for dads for Father’s Day list

Six Years | Harlan Coben

Many are saying this is Coben’s best book ever. This is a stand alone book and not part of Coben’s famous Myron Bolitar series.

Coben is at his best writing suspense and keeps the reader guessing in his latest bestseller Six Years. A simple title but definitely not a simple book. Definitely for the reader who enjoys a well-told story with a complex plot. Check this list for more books by Harlan Coben.

The Black Box | Michael Connelly

One can only grin with joy when a new Michael Connelly book is released, especially if it is a Bosch book.

Harry Bosch is back in all his glory in The Black Box, and he’s faced with solving a twenty year old murder, one he investigated but never solved. When Bosch becomes a man with a mission, he is unstoppable and woe to the bureaucrats who get in his way. Learn more about Harry Bosch as he unravels the many knotted threads that have kept this mystery shrouded and untended for years. Check this list for more books by Michael Connelly.

A Wanted Man | Lee Child

It is not safe to hitch hike, not even for a man like Jack Reacher. In A Wanted Man: A Jack Reacher Novel Child somehow manages to keep Reacher inside a car for a good amount of time and still manages to pull off a great read. Meanwhile, the author is busy, as the NY Times says, “developing  one of the best female characters in the whole Reacher series: Julia Sorenson, an F.B.I. special agent from Omaha who is called in to investigate a potential interstate crime.”

If Dad is fan of the Jack Reacher series, this is the latest book. Lee Child is a master of writing stories that are nearly impossible to put down. Check this list for more books by Lee Child.

Okay, that’s my triple threat when it comes to this year’s summer reading list of best books for dads for Father’s Day. You could spend a summer reading any and all of the books written by these authors. If crime fiction is not what you are looking for, check out these other equally good “best books for dad”, too.

If you’re a writer and carving out space in mystery suspense, it wouldn’t hurt to read books by these writers known for their skill in crafting mystery, suspense, and thriller bestselling books.

What about you? What are your favorite books to give as Father’s Day? What about beach reads for the guys? Please share them.

Good idea re: this week’s TTT! I haven’t gotten around to Harlan Coben’s other titles (though I really enjoyed Tell No One)…maybe one of these days xD

Thanks for dropping by my TTT! :)

  • Maggie (Mrs. Doctor Dear)

Good idea! I typically dislike the beach reads because chick lit is not my thing either. I haven’t read those books, but they seem like good “dad books.

Thanks for stopping by my TTT!
